Marketing & Brand

The University of Michigan has one of the most recognizable academic brands in the world. The Office of the Vice President of Communications keeps U-M’s brand strong by providing guidance and services that communicate a consistent image of U-M as a top public university that strives to contribute to the greater good in everything we do: academics, research and patient care.

Our marketing and branding teams help shape and create strategic and compelling brand-aligned communications for a range of high-visibility efforts.

Partnering with Campus

We regularly partner with other major units, including admissions, development, student life and government affairs, to develop strategic, integrated communications and marketing plans that support U-M’s initiatives and mission.

We also lead a Communicators’ Forum group and work with individual communicators across campus to help them develop effective and creative communications that are true to the U-M brand while meeting their unit’s goals and objectives.

Consulting & Research

Our team is available to provide consultation on communications and marketing strategy and campaign planning for major campus initiatives. We regularly track, analyze and report on U-M’s media coverage, monitor perceptions of U-M and the impact of communication efforts on the university’s reputation. We also help translate market research and analytics for other U-M units.
