Erica Colaianne

Director of Social Media

Erica leads the social communications office (#UMSocial). In this capacity, she strategizes content to amplify the breadth of research and expertise at the University of Michigan while creating and elevating dynamic content to educate and engage students. Driving the coordination of cohesive strategies across the institution and leveraging expertise to address societal challenges, she brings social communicators from across the institution together to constructively communicate innovative content and crucial information.

Before joining U-M, Erica served as associate director for marketing and communications at Wayne State University. Her roles prior to that include marketing and communications manager at Beaumont Health, account executive at Berg Muirhead & Associates, and reporter for MLive and Heritage Media.

Erica graduated from Wayne State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and received a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Eastern Michigan University.
